Gross Exits Whizbang

(August 20, 2012 - Toronto, Ontario) Frank Siracusa, Producer and head of Whizbang Films has announced that founding partner Paul Gross will be leaving the company by the end of August. Gross and Siracusa joined forces in 1999 to create Whizbang Films and have shared many successes over the years. Together they made Whizbang a leading Canadian producer of films and television and a respected industry professional internationally.


"Paul has played a major role in shaping the values of the company and we will miss his intelligence and incredible work ethic," said Frank Siracusa of his partner's pending departure. "His depth of understanding the art of storytelling helped set the bar in deciding the projects Whizbang participates in. We will continue to support Paul in his commitment to follow his passion projects.

"We created some wonderful projects during my time with Whizbang and I am very proud of the contributions our company has made to our industry," said Paul Gross. "But I feel the time has come to concentrate my energies on a<Paul Gross> few select projects. While I will miss Whizbang enormously, I will watch their progress with enthusiastic pride."

Whizbang's latest feature film Cottage Country directed by Peter Wellington and starring Malin Akerman, Lucy Punch and Tyler Labine, recently locked and theatrical release plans will be announced shortly. During their time together, Siracusa and Gross have had successes such as box office hits Men with Brooms and multiple Genie award-winner Passchendaele (both starring Paul Gross), Hobo with a Shotgun with Rutger Hauer, and Breakaway starring Rob Lowe and Russell Peters.

Their television library boasts titles such as H2O; its sequel The Trojan Horse; the gripping peacekeeper series ZOS: Zone of Separation; Cra$h & Burn; and the comedic drama The Yard.

In addition to Cottage Country, Whizbang's healthy roster for 2012/2013 includes The Horses of McBride for CTV, CBS's Beauty and the Beast series, and the Hallmark Channel's fifth and sixth installments in The Good Witch series.

Paul Gross will next appear in Hyena Road. in which Gross is screenwriter, director, producer and star. It is set to go before the cameras in January 2013.
