The new rates, terms and conditions of the CBC Television and Radio Agreements are retroactive from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Performers will see a rate increase of 1.5% for that year. CBC will also make an additional contribution of .5% of gross performer fees to a scholarship programme to benefit ACTRA members. The CBC will continue to contribute to the Benefits Administration Fee (BAF) in order to help defray the cost of administration for performers’ benefits. All other terms and conditions in the Television and Radio Agreements will remain unchanged.
“ACTRA and the CBC have a strong and healthy working relationship,” said Stephen Waddell, ACTRA National Executive Director. “We believe the Agreements are working well for both parties with no changes needed at this time. Our new Agreements provide significant gains for performers that are balanced with the interests of the Corporation.”
ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is the national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada. ACTRA represents the interests of 22,000 members across Canada – the foundation of Canada’s highly acclaimed professional performing community.
