CHUM Limited's Disaster Relief Efforts Raise $4.5 million for the Canadian Red Cross
|
TORONTO, January 13, 2005 - Thanks to the generous donations of CHUM Limited's listeners and viewers, the Company is pleased to announce a final tally of $4.5 million has been raised for the Canadian Red Cross to aid in tsunami relief. This is the largest amount raised by a national media fundraising initiative in the history of the Canadian Red Cross.
Last week CHUM held CHUM Disaster Relief Day, a one-day national media blitz across its 32 radio stations and 33 television stations, whereby over $3.2 million was raised in less than 24 hours. The CHUM/Red Cross phone line and website remained open until 5pm ET yesterday, during which time an additional $1.3 million was donated.
CHUM Limited would like to once again thank its listeners and viewers from coast to coast for their overwhelming generosity and for making this past week a tremendous success. The funds were raised through donations from the public, as well as private businesses, and also include CHUM's own contribution of $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.
