Cumyn is also a stage actor and his roles include Billy de la Salle in the 1990 production of White Trash Blue Eyes; Man 2 in 2-2 Tango; Doug in the 1993 production of A Secret Life; Andrew Aguecheek in Twelfth Night, and Prior Walter in Parts I and II of Angels in America in 1996 winning the Dora for Best Actor the following year. He was a member of the ensemble cast in A Nero Wolfe Mystery playing the role of District Attorney Skinner
