John Dunsworth, who plays the role of Jim Lahey on the long-running series Trailer Park Boys, was once the subject of a short film. In 1988 he was asked to run in a provincial election in Nova Scotia and writer and director Neal Livingston thought it would be a good idea to see how a political novice would approach the task of launching and running a campaign. Dunsworth was not elected and by 1990 his acting career had started to blossom. He is one of Halifax's most venerable and revered actors. He has appeared in countless CBC radio dramas and has held leading roles in over 25 Neptune Theatre productions. In 1970, he convinced the city of Halifax to lease him a run-down building by the shipyards which he turned into Pier One Theatre, Halifax's first and probably most successful alternative theatre company.
