Wayne Flemming nearly died from a brain hemorrhage, but discovered the value of true friendship. Back in the early days of his career, he and fellow Northern Star Jim Carrey used to tour the Yuk Yuks circuit together. When the now famous Hollywood actor heard about his pal, he stopped production on the 2000 film, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and flew to Kingston, Ontario to be nearby as Flemming began his long road to recovery. It was the second close call for the veteran Canadian funny man. Flemming was booked to open for Rick Nelson on the singer's last tour and would have been on Nelson's plane when it crashed but bowed out to spend New Year's at home. Jim Carrey made sure he had a role in the 2004 movie, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, but Wayne's scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. He was in Carrey's 2005 film, Fun With Dick and Jane.
