Brendan Fraser's dad was a Canadian travel executive who moved frequently. As a result the future actor spent time growing up in Ottawa, Indianapolis, Detroit, Seattle, London and Rome. He attended Upper Canada College in Toronto, the Actors' Conservatory, and the Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. He was given the Golden Space Needle Award for Best Actor at the 1997 Seattle International Film Festival for his portrayal of Fletcher McBracken in the 1998 James F. Robinson film Still Breathing. Brendan Fraser maintains dual citizenship in Canada and the United States.
