Daniel Gillies grew up in Winnipeg then moved with his family to New Zealand. Comfortable on stage as well as in front of the cameras, he has appared in a number of plays and drama festivals. He got his start in TV when he was cast by a New Zealand production company to appear in a series called Street Legal which should not be confused with the Canadian production of the same name. His two years on the show helped him develop his skills as a film actor. He returned to Canada and settled in Vancouver. His most-watched role, so far, was that of the astronaunt love-interest for Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman 2.
