Born in Hamilton, Ontario to two American expatriates who had moved to Canada in 1974 after deciding to get out of New York City and buy a farm with the $500.00 they had saved, Luke Kirby grew up in a rural Ontario setting but showed an interest in acting at a young age. He attended the National Theatre School of Canada.
