Peter MacNeill in a publicity still from the CBC production of HeyDay! Fans of Montreal playwright, David Fennario will recognize MacNeil as Johnny from the original production of Balconville. MacNeil won a Genie for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the 1997 Canadian film The Hanging Garden. He also earned a 1994 Gemini Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Gross Misconduct, a television movie about hockey player Brian Spencer, directed by Atom Egoyan and written by Paul Gross; and again in 1998 for his role in Penelope Buitenhuis' Giant Mine.
