Walter Edward Hart Massey, cousin of Raymond Massey, studied with Sanford Meisner and Harold Clurman in the United States and spent five years working on and off Broadway and with Joseph Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival. Landing a project in Montreal to do some directing and acting, he fell in love with the city and never left. He spent a number of years as leading man with The Mountain Playhouse and has performed at the National Arts Centre and Centaur Theatre.
He was co-founder of the King's Theatre in Prince Edward Island as well as the Piggery Theatre and the Playwrights' Workshop. He is also a founding member of Canadian Actors' Equity.
