Born in Toronto the future actress went to Ryerson to study theatre and began her professional career in 1983 when she joined the Second City comedy group as a writer and performer. It was here that she met and eventually married Colin Mochrie in 1989. Not limited to the comedy stage or television, McGrath's career includes voice-over work in animation, appearances in commercials and in theatre.
