CLAUDINE MERCIER
b. 1961

It's a bit odd to consider but female impersonators are usually men, but that didn't stop Québec-born singer Claudine Mercier from getting in on the act. A drama major from Québec's Sherbrooke University, she first drew attention for her humour as a member of the Just for Laughs tour in 1990. She's spent years on stage performing to packed theatres across her home province. In a typical show she'll perform as Shania Twain, Madonna, Edith Piaf and fellow Quebecker, Diane Dufresne, just a few of some 40 different characterizations. Capable of switching easily into each personality she was a natural to play all of the contestants of a reality TV talent show in the 2005 comedy, Idole instantanée.
