Alison Courtney Pill began performing at a the age of 3. In addition to private voice and dance lessions, she also studied at the National Ballet School and the Toronto’s Children’s Chorus. She decided she wanted to be an actress when she was just 10 years old. She recently was in the off-Broadway world premiere of Neil LaBute’s reasons to be pretty, directed by Terry Kinney. She had previously starred in the same playwright’s The Distance from Here, in its U.S. premiere, for which she shared the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble. Her Broadway debut in The Lieutenant of Inishmore brought her a Tony Award nomination, and she also starred on Broadway in Mauritius. Off-Broadway, she was a Lucille Lortel Award nominee for both On the Mountain and Blackbird (opposite Jeff Daniels), and starred in None of the Above. Her role as Maggie Jordan on the hit HBO series The Newsroom has brought the Toronto-born actress a legion of fans in the United States and Canada.
