Fiona Reid was born in England, but lived in Germany, Africa, and the United States before settling in Canada in 1964. She first became interested in acting while at Toronto's Lawrence Park Collegiate. She went on to study theatre at McGill University in Montréal and the Banff Centre for the Arts in Alberta. She has twice won Dora Mavor Moore awards for her performance in Fallen Angels at the St. Lawrence Centre in 1993, and for Six Degrees of Separation at CanStage in 1995. Perhaps best known to TV audiences as Cathy King in The King of Kensington series, Reid is a past recipient of the Toronto Life Women of Distinction Award and in 2006 was given the Order of Canada.
