Tara Slone started out thinking about a career as an opera singer and began studing classical voice when she was just 12 years old. She started to get a degree in music when she was 18, but after one year of college, Tara moved to Montreal to attend the theater program at Concordia University. At age 22, she moved to Toronto to pursue an acting career and to start a band. In 1996, she answered an ad in a newspaper and became the lead singer of Joydrop.
