MIKE SMITH
b. August 27, 1972 in Thorburn, Nova Scotia

Mike "Bubbles" Smith

Mike Smith is known by just about everyone as "Bubbles" thanks to Trailer Park Boys, but of course there's much more than that to his life. For example, he started playing hockey when he was just 4 years old, but it was music that really captured his imagination. He could play guitar at the age of 7 and eventually gave up hockey to concentrate on being a musician. He earned a degree in English from St. Francis Xavier University, but in 1992 his career in music began to take off. He played guitar and was one of the principal songwriters in the band Sandbox and signed a record deal with EMI in Canada, and Nettwerk in the U.S. They were nominated for a Juno Award, East Coast Music Awards and a Casby Award, Sandbox released two albums, Bionic and A Murder In The Glee Club. In 1999, Smith started composing music for film and television and has worked as a sound mixer on such feature films as The Weight of Water starring Sean Penn and Elizabeth Hurley, and Serendipity starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. While sound mixing on the 1999 movie, Trailer Park Boys, he met Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay. Goofing around one day on set, Mike was imitating a character he had been doing for years. Producer-director-writer, Mike Clattenburg decided to write the character into the series and so Bubbles was born. These are his credits as an actor.
