Robert Scott Speedman was raised in Toronto and ended up acting because he accepted a dare from a girlfriend. The dare involved dropping a dollar into an automatic video recording machine and mouthing off on a show called Speaker's Corner. His natural good looks and ease on camera prompted people involved in the show to track him down and encourage him to consider a career as an actor. He ended up with an agent and did land roles in episodes of various produced-in-Canada TV series. While he was at the University of Toronto he became an avid swimmer and once thought of trying out for our national swim team. But the draw of a career in front of the cameras was too strong and so he dropped out to devote all of his time to acting. Known for his role of Ben Covington on the TV series, Felicity, most people now associate his name with his costarring role as Michael Corvin in the Underworld movies.
