Waneta Storms grew up in Hills, B.C., a small town near New Denver where she went to school. She studied acting at Simon Fraser University, and went on to graduate from Montreal's prestigious National Theatre School before moving to Toronto. Waneta earned a 1998 Dora Award for her outstanding performance in a stage production of Coyote Ugly. She also received a Gemini nomination for Best Actress in a Guest Role for her performance in the TV series Blue Murder.
