Born Mary June Story, the future actor moved with her family to Connecticut and then to California when she was still very young. She is most often remembered for her work in the late 1930s and 1940 with cowboy actor and singer Gene Autry. They made 10 movies together between 1939 and 1940. She continued her career into the 1940s but stopped acting following a near-fatal car accident in 1950. By then she was married, had a family and had moved from the bright lights of Hollywood to the relative calm of Oregon.
