Gordon Tanner's acting career began when he was working on his Master's degree in Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba. Preoccupied with his studies, he made a wrong turn that led to auditions for a production of Troilus and Cressida. Sensing serendipity, he stayed and was cast in a major role. He loved the experience so much he never went back to engineering. In 1995, he cofounded the Royal Liechtenstein Theatre Company which has collectively written and performed 14 full-length sketch comedy productions. Other theatre credits include Endgame for Winnipeg's Becket Fest 2000, and as Rosencrantz (and five other characters) in a national tour of Hamlet with the English Suitcase Theatre.
