Scott Thompson - Northern Stars

Scott Thompson
b. June 12, 1959 in North Bay, Ontario

Scott Thompson was born in North Bay but grew up in Brampton, Ontario. He enrolled in York University but in his third year was asked to leave for being "disruptive". He joined the comedy troupe The Love Cats, where he met Mark McKinney and they would go on to be founding members of The Kids in the Hall. They would go onto have have a regular series starting 1989 on CBC, and on HBO in the United States. From HBO the show moved to CBS for its fourth and fifth seasons. He was host of the 2004 Genie Awards. In March 2009, it was announced that Thompson had been diagnosed with B-cell non-Hodgkins gastric lymphoma, an aggressive form of stomach cancer. After four-months of radiation therapy and six rounds of chemotherapy, he said that he was cancer-free. He joined the other Kids in the Hall to tour as recently as 2008, guest-starred in two episodes of Reno 911!, and was part of Death Comes to Town on CBC in 2010 with fellow KITH alumni Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Kevin McDonald.
