Don Carmody
b. April 16, 1951 in Providence, Rhode Island

<Don Carmody>

Born in Rhode Island, Don Carmody moved with his family first to Boston and then when he was 11 years old to Montreal. He lived in Rosemere, a small community north of the Island of Montreal. He attended Loyola High School and studied art at the Musée des beaux-arts. When it was time to go to college he asked his teacher at the Musée, the well known Quebec artist Charles Gagnon, where he might be able to get a degree. As it turned out Gagnon had been hired as the first film teacher at Loyola College and they would be offering a degree program. Carmody majored in film production and later obtained a law degree at McGill University. His first work in film was as a "gofer" on the Robert Altman film McCabe and Mrs. Miller, which was shot in British Columbia. These are his credits as a Producer, Co-producer, or Executive Producer.

In the spring of 2011, Don Carmody was working on his 100th film. Northernstars.ca was given an opportunity to interview him about his long and successful career. Edited into approximately 10-minute segments, click here to begin watching our 8-Part video interview with Don Carmody, titled Don Carmody at 100.
