Michael DeCarlo studied philosophy and literature at the University of Toronto, where he wrote, produced, edited, co-scored and directed several short film adaptations of Greek tragedies. After a short stint in New York, DeCarlo returned to Canada to attend the Canadian Film Centre as a director resident. Through Global TV's New Producer Series, DeCarlo crafted the comedy Fellini and Me, which picked up two Gemini nominations, including one for Best Writing.
