Larry Kent, was born and grew up in South Africa before moving to Canada and settling in Vancouver in 1957. He moved to Montréal in the late 1960s. His 1964 feature, Sweet Substitute was one of the first Canadian features to prove that it could find an audience in the United States. His work after that has been consistently good but he has largely gone unnoticed, which is a shame. His work deserves a wider audience.
