Eric Till

Eric Till
began his career in theatre as a composer and made a few appearances
in opera and on the stage. Later, with two years of service in the British military, he joined a radio station
in Hamburg, Germany, which he then used to work his way into a job in the record library at the British Broadcasting Corporation. He quickly realized this was a dead-end in terms of a career move and so in 1950 in left England for Canada. After serving two years as company manager with
National Ballet of Canada, Till joined the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation (CBC) and directed a number of fine arts programs of opera,
ballet and television plays, which ran the gamut from classic
to comtemporary. He broke out of the small screen with 1968's Hot Millions.
The image of Eric Till above on left was taken while Till was working on Terence Heffernan's A Great Big Thing and was donated to the Northernstars Collection in April of 2011.
