Denis Villeneuve

Maelström was named the Best Canadian Film at the 2000 Montreal World Film Festival. His short film, Next Floor, was chosen to screen at the International Critics' Week during the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. Denis Villeneuve was one of three Canadians (along with Ed Gass-Donnelly and Patrick Lussier) named in Variety Magazine's "10 Directors to Watch" list published in January of 2011. His film Polytechnique won the Genie Award for Best Picture and he won for Best Director in 2010. One year later, at the 2011 Genie Awards, Incendies took Best Picture and Best Director awards along with six other Genie Awards.
