The Life before This plays with chance and shows how a simple coincidence can result in truly devastating and disastrous repercussions in the world. In a story that could come straight from the front pages of any newspaper, several innocent bystanders are hurt or killed when a casino-heist goes terribly wrong and spills into a neighbouring café. Using the technique of an extended flashback, the movie travels back in time to the morning of the shooting and follow the lives of the bystanders through their day to see what choices, in an alternate reality, would change the outcome of the impending shootout.
