The Bread Maker (2003)

<Canadian Movie Database>

The Bread Maker is a romantic comedy about a woman named Honey Reddigan who works at the Sweet Bea Bakery by day and writes romance novels at night and aspires to be like more the heroines she creates: independent, sexy, perfect and desirable. But in real life she is quirky, romantic and creatively flawed, for she drinks too much and daydreams incessantly. Having just published her first novel, Carmen the Bee Keeper's Lover, she revels in the limelight as a celebrity with her co-workers and tantalizes them with updates on her new novel. The factory girls, and Honey herself, savour the sultry bread-kneeding adventures of her heroine. But fiction becomes reality when Honey falls for commitment-phobic TV meteorologist Edmund Goobie (Jonathan Torrens) and she begins to wonder whether happily-ever-after is all it's cracked up to be. Produced for $750,000, the film was shot over a period of two years due to financing issues. It had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
