Moving Malcolm (2003)

Moving Malcolm

Gene, played by Benjamin Ratner, who makes his directorial debut with his self-penned feature film, is a struggling writer who's dumped at the altar by a flighty B-movie actress. At odds with his family, friends, and himself, Gene spends the next year toiling away on a voluminous novel that he hopes will win back his former fiancé. Then suddenly she shows up asking him to help move her father, Malcolm, played by John Neville, while she's off making a low-budget flick in Prague. This could be Gene's last chance to recapture Liz's love. Ratner admits the story is autobiographical to a certain degree, but the film looks at the universal theme of acceptance - acceptance by friends, family and lovers. The very people that drive us to the edge and back as we struggle to accept ourselves.
