The title of this film takes its name from a TV show. In English it would be called, Instant Idol. It's a reality TV show in which the winning contestant is transformed into a singing star. As the movie begins there are 8 semi-finalists. Each young woman sings a song of her choice, the jury votes, and the names of the four finalists are announced. It's the story of these four finalists that we follow. Cat, a rocker, hopes to win in order to provide her three sons with a better life. Superficial but submissive Manon enters because that’s what her ambitious mother wants. Daphnée was encouraged by the people she works with to audition. Mimi, a shy small town librarian, is entered without her knowledge by her friend Brigitte. When Mimi gets lost in the streets of Montreal, fans of the show find her and won’t let her go. Meanwhile, the producers, who haven’t put much effort into finding her, decide whether or not they should replace her with another contestant. Popular comedienne and singer Claudine Mercier plays all eight contestants. Québec actor, Yves Desgagnés, makes his directorial debut with this fun comedy.
