The story of Poor Boy's Game deals with a young neighbourhood tough named Donnie who is played by Rossif Sutherland. Nine years ago when he was just 17 years old, he was sent to prison for a violent crime against a young black man. While the system may deem that he has paid his debt to society and is now reformed, there are others who have their own thoughts on the justice system. When he is released back into the same vicious, working class neighbourhood that created him, one of the people waiting for this opportunity is the father of Donnie's victim, George, played by vetern American actor Danny Glover. George desperately needs to take revenge on the person who severely injured his son. But when he comes face-to-face with Donnie, he decides against imposing his own brand of justice. Soon after, George discovers that he is alone in his need to move on with his life. His wife, Ruth, played by Tonya Lee Williams, and the entire community seem to want Donnie to pay in blood for what they see as an assault against them all. Donnie and George learn to see beyond their history to the angry, hurt, loving and shockingly similar men inside. Poor Boy's Game is an exploration of the futility of vengeance and the potency of forgiveness.
