|Debbie Werner Heads TJFF|
|(January 28, 2014 – Toronto, Ontario) The Toronto Jewish Film Festival (TJFF) has announced the appointment of Debbie Werner as Executive Director.|
“Debbie is a confident, assured director who understands how to communicate with people,” said Helen Zukerman, who becomes the Artistic Director of TJFF. “Her leadership skills make her the perfect choice for Executive Director. As one of the co-founders of TJFF, 22 years ago, it is wonderful to see the next generation at the helm of the organization.”
Werner joined the Festival in 2009 as Director of Operations before being promoted to Managing Director in 2012. A graduate of the University of Toronto, she possesses 16-years experience in marketing and event management.
“I am honoured and excited to take on the responsibilities of Executive Director,” said Werner. “What a thrill to work with such a supportive, motivated team on one of the world`s finest film festivals.”
The Toronto Jewish Film Festival is the largest Jewish film festival in the world, showcasing the best in international features, documentaries and shorts concerning themes of Jewish culture and identity. The Toronto Jewish Film Festival will welcome its 22nd season from May 1 through May 11, 2014, when it will present over 90 films representing more than 15 countries.
The official closing for submissions to the festival was January 15. However, as their entry form clearly states, films submitted after that fate will be viewed “only if time permits and may be considered for the next Festival. If you have already submitted your film, you should receive notification if your film has been selected for screening by March 24th.
