Dave Broadfoot

Thought of as a comedian, primarily for his work on the series The Royal Canadian Air Farce where he played, first on the radio series and then later on television, such marvellous characters as hockey player Big Bobby Clobber, Corporal, and later Sgt. Renfrew (pictured), an RCMP officer who never seemed to get his man, and David J. Broadfoot, the parliamentarian for Kicking Horse Pass. He got his start in early television and with the icons of early TV comedy, Wayne and Shuster. He was also a serious actor and appeared in many made-for-TV dramas on programs like First Performance, The Unforeseen and Encounter. Broadfoot was given many awards including a Juno Award for comedy recording, 13 Actra awards for writing and performing for radio and television, and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards for Canadian comedy. He was also an officer of the Order of Canada and an honorary sergeant major of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
