Jackie Torrens

Jackie Torrens is a writer, journalist, playwright, radio documentary maker and actor in TV, film, theatre and radio. She is pictured on the left above in a publicity still from her appearance on The Singular Series, a production of Bravo! Television. Her episode was titled Live! Nude! Animal! Her critically acclaimed plays include Tales From The Glockenspiel That Is My Heart, Strange Antiques and Fables. She has won Geminis for her work as Wanda Mattice on Made In Canada and was nominated for a Gemini for her writing work on Trailer Park Boys. Torrens and her brother co-wrote 65 episodes of TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens, which was nominated for a Banff World Media Festival award for Best Comedy. She was nominated for Best Actress at the Merritts for her work in Daniel MacIvor’s A Beautiful View and Morris Panych’s Seven Stories. Her radio documentary, Camp Mini Ha Ha, won the CBC Maritimes Award of Excellence for Best Feature Writing in Radio. Her production company Peep Media is also in production on a one-hour television documentary on east coast subcultures
