Kaniehtiio Horn was raised in Kahnawake, a Mohawk reserve just outside of Montréal, Québec. She is the daughter of well known Kahn-Tineta Horn, a Mohawk former model and a political activist for the Kahnawake First Nation. Usually called and most often credited simply as “Tiio,” which is pronounced ‘dio,’ Kaniehtiio Horn graduated from Dawson College’s DOME Theatre Program in 2005. Since completing her studies, Tiio has worked consistently in film, television and voice. Nominated for a Gemini Award for her role in the made-for-television film Moccasin Flats: Redemption, she plays the role of Tara in the series Ghost BFF. Kaniehtiio Horn makes her feature directorial debut with 2024’s Seeds.
