Billed as a teen drama that will examine how kids redefine themselves through the Internet, Adoration is Atom Egoyan`s twelfth feature. In it he explores the themes of technology, terrorism and fear. The story centres on a high school student, Simon (Devon Bostick). Simon lives with his well-meaning, struggling uncle Tom (Scott Speedman), who increasingly shuts him out, which propels Simon toward his mysterious French teacher Sabine (Arsinée Khanjian). One day his French class is asked to translate a news article about a man who put his pregnant girlfriend on a flight to Israel with explosives in her hand luggage. A security guard discovers it and saves the passengers on the plane, including the young woman and her unborn child. Simon uses this exercise to begin digging into his own family`s past. His resulting claims about the deaths of his father Sami (Noam Jenkins) and mother Rachel (Rachel Blanchard) create a storm when he uses the Internet to send it out into cyberspace and the real world beyond with unexpectedly widespread and forceful results.
