James Allodi began his career by writing plays and acting in theatre. After studying at New York University and graduating in 1989 with a B.F.A. in film production, he began to write and direct short films. Allodi has also worked consistently as a film editor, cinematographer and actor. He earned a Dora Award nomination for best actor (small theatre division) for his part in The Last Supper. In 1997 he was a director resident in the Canadian Film Centre’s Director’s Lab where he made Cold Feet (1998) as part of the Short Dramatic Film Program. It played to critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, among others. Allodi’s feature directing debut, The Uncles, received wide critical acclaim. |
