Ramona Barckert earned an Honours BA in English from York University. She is pictured with her 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Best Writing in a Children’s or Youth Program or Series, for the 2013 episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation titled Bitter Sweet Symphony – Part 2 Barckert was also nominated fir an Emmy for her work that series. In addition to writing some of the episodes she was creator, Executive Producer and showrunner on the teen series Open Heart.
