Brigitte Berman attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she studied English and Film. She won an Academy Award for her feature documentary Artie Shaw: Time is all you’ve got. Her 2016 documentary about Gordon Pinsent, The River of My Dreams, screened at TIFF in September 2016. Her 2018 documentary Hugh Hefner’s After Dark: Speaking Out In America, revisits a previous subject and will have its Canadian Premiere at the 2018 Whistler Film Festival. It focuses almost exclusively on the two late night syndicated series that Playboy produced: Playboy’s Penthouse, from 1959 to 1960 and Playboy After Dark from 1968 to 1970.
