(December 19, 2016 – Los Angeles, CA) The year 2017 is just a few days away and news of potential blockbuster films of the year ahead is starting to find its way out. For us one of the biggest highlights of the new year promises to be the revisit to Blade Runner.
The new film, Blade Runner 2049, is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Ryan Gosling as a new Blade Runner. Here’s the synopsis we’ve received: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Based on characters from the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, the story is by Hampton Fancher and the Screenplay was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. In addition to Gosling and Ford other cast members include Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
We don’t know about you, but we can hardly wait. The announced release date is October 6, 2017 i IMAX and select theatres.
