Bollywood/Hollywood is about an Indian family living in Toronto and the influences Bollywood films continue to have on their lives in Canada. Rahul Seth, a young, dashing Toronto dot.com millionaire, believes he is western enough to rebel against his mother and grandmother, especially when it comes to marriage. When his white girlfriend dies in an accident, his family pressures him to marry a good Indian girl. After wrestling with his struggle for independence and his duty to the family, Rahul attends his sister`s wedding, accompanied by Sue, an expensive, intelligent and fiercely independent escort who poses as his “Indian” fiancée. Sue, however, is not what she appears to be. With some of Bollywood’s best actors, Bollywood songs and a story that is a true Bollywood morality play, Bollywood/Hollywood pays homage to both East and West in a fun-loving romp of a movie supported by Bollywood choreography and a Hollywood plot. Production still and poster courtesy of Mongrel Media. |
