B: August 31, 1965 in Levis, Québec
Céline Bonnier, the youngest of 8 children, was brought up in a liberal, cultured environment and was encouraged by her parents to develop her imaginative side. She started “acting” in the local playground when she was about 7 and would entertain her neighbours and friends with little impromptu routines. Music was a major part of her early life and after she graduated from high school she could play several instruments. Bonnier also had a flair for art, but it was her early ability at acting that led her high school drama teacher to recommend she audition for the Conservatoire de théâtre in Québec. Graduating in 1987, she joined Jacques Lessard`s Théâtre Repère, where she met Robert Lepage who invited her to play the part of Konstanz in his 1991 production of Les plaques tectoniques in both Montréal and later on tour in the UK. She launched her film career by reprising her role in the screen version of the play one year later. Céline Bonnier plays the role of Suzanne Beauchemin on the TV series, Unité 9. She is pictured above in a still from the La passion d’Augustine, which brought her a Gala du cinéma québécois Award in March of 2016. |
