A graduate of the National Theatre School in 1978, Denis Bouchard is probably best known for playing the role of Lucien “Lulu” Boivin, the ingenuous sportscaster in all of the Lance et Compte series and in the 2010 feature film. This role brought him a Gémeaux in 1989. He has also regularly won recognition for his role as Hugo in Annie et ses hommes, picking up a Gémeaux, a MétroStar and a Prix Artis. A writer, director and actor, he starred in La petite reine, Histoires d’hiver and Les matins infidèles, for which he won the 1990 Guy-L’écuyer award for best Quebec actor and the Bayard d’Or for best French-speaking actor at the Namur Festival in Belgium. Bouchard has directed over 100 stage shows in Quebec and Europe, including Garou, Daniel Lavoie, Roch Voisine, Stéphane Rousseau (Olivier Award 2001 for most popular show). He has also written or co-written several plays, including La déprime, Raz de marée, La farce de l’âge, Pare-choc, Bang and, more recently, Le dernier sacrement. |
