Born in the Central American country of Belize, Catherine Bruhier grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick. She moved to Toronto when she was 17 to study acting at George Brown Theatre School. She continued her studies at York University, and the University of Toronto and came to the attention of theatre-goers when she won a Dora Award for her work in the play, Carrying the Calf. Catherine played the role of Elaine Besbriss on Due South. The Sacrifice, a 20-minute short, marked Catherine Bruhier’s debut as a director.
