Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin play a young couple on vacation who stop for the night in a sleepy snowbound town. The motel manager tells them an urban legend about a cult in a mysterious house where three sexy nymphs lure men home, fatten them up, kill them and eat them. Surprise, surprise, it isn’t a myth. What starts out as an amusing comedy turns frightfully slow-paced and confusing about halfway through. Released in the United States in 1974, promoters resorted to the gimmick of a warning bell that would go off to warn squeamish audiences of an upcoming gory scene. It wasn’t used in broadcast or video/DVD versions. Cannibal Girls screened at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival and was billed as a Canuxploitation classic. The lobby card and poster were scanned from originals in the Northernstars Collection. |
