Sara Canning was born in Newfoundland but grew up in Sherwood Park, just east of Edmonton, Alberta. She is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School. She is best known for playing Jenna Sommers on the series The Vampire Diaries since 2009. Sara Canning plays Lake, Aleks Paunovic plays Winter and Roger Cross plays Captain in War for the Planet of the Apes which was shot in Vancouver and in parts of Alberta.
