Born in England Nicola Cavendish grew up in British Columbia and began her acting career in her early 20s. She was given a Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for the 1991 film The Grocer’s Wife and a Gemini Award nomination for the 1998 film The Sleep Room. On stage, her many credits include performing on Broadway in Blithe Spirit (directed by Brian Bedford), and in 1999, in Denise Filiatrault’s Canadian Stage production of Michel Tremblay’s Les Belles-soeurs. Her play It’s Snowing in Saltspring is an annual Christmas favourite in British Columbia.
