Based on a story by Daniel Weissenberger, Come True is a horror film that focuses on a troubled teenager Sara Dunn (Julia Sarah Stone), a young woman with a troubled estranged relationship with her mother. She steals food from her mother’s house and sleeps in a hammock outdoors or at friends’ homes. Plagued by strange, surreal nightmares of a dark maze and a shadowy figure with glowing eyes, she agrees to be a paid test subject in a sleep experiment, the goal of which is classified. At first she sleeps well, but after two sessions her nightmares worsen and she has a panic attack when one of the scientists shows her a picture of the same shadowy figure from her dreams. She is also troubled by the only other woman in the study dropping out and the fact none of the scientists will divulge the purpose of the study.
Come True was made with the participation of Telefilm Canada and with the assistance of the Government of Alberta, Alberta Media Fund.
