Matt Craven, who started out in life as Matthew John Crnkovich, worked at a number of jobs before turning to acting. He tried electrical maintenance, and was a lineman for the Canadian National Railway in western Canada. In 1975, after spontaneously auditioning and subsequently landing the role of Jonathon Harker in the Niagara Falls Music Theatre’s production of Dracula, he knew that all he wanted to do was act. When the production ended he moved to Toronto to begin to work on building a career and landed a supporting role in the 1979 comedy, Meatballs. He went on to a starring role in the short film Bravery in the Field which was nominated for an Academy Award. Craven moved to New York City in 1982 and made his off-Broadway debut in the hit play Blue Window. The rest, as they say, is history. He played the role of Chief Bill Vickery in the mini-series Sharp Objects, directed by Jean-Marc VallĂ©e. |
